Miss Matthews’ first taste of discipline
I was working as a striptease artiste at the Sunset Strip Theatre in Soho when I was discovered as a potential spanking model. A film-maker from the nearby, much missed, Janus shop popped in to see the new girls dance, with a view to getting some fresh faced models. I was 21, bendy, obliging, with long shapely legs and pert buttocks: he must have been thrilled to spot me. At any rate, he left his name and number with my boss, together with a note begging me to call. It’s some measure of my innocence and total trust – which has never deserted me, actually, nor let me down – that I promptly rang to ask what he wanted. And that was how I found myself in a film studio in King’s Cross a few weeks later. He’d asked if I had any ideas for a shoot – any fetish clothing I could bring – and I had precious little idea what he meant: however, I did mention I’d worked as an aerobics instructor, and had a fine selection of leotards and dance tights. I was pleased this seemed to be an acceptable response, judging by the whimpering noises he made down the phone.
I enjoyed the shoot immensely. I wasn’t really hurt, but it was the first time I’d felt a cane on my behind. Taking photographs of a girl being caned is quite the art form – the moment the bamboo connects with the flesh, leaving an imprint, happens so swiftly, the photographer and caner had to employ some mysterious counting method to maximise their chances. I just bent over and enjoyed the attention. I can’t honestly say I found it erotic – it’s hard to lose yourself in sub-space when every movement, every pose, has to be undertaken only with thought for the camera. But I liked doing something so unusual, showing off and being praised for my efforts. No change there either. And when they asked me to shoot a film with them a few months later, I was more than happy to oblige.
Amy, this is a fascinating account of how you got started in spanking films. Of course, I remember the Janus shop well as a frequent visitor when I worked in central London – surprise, surprise. To think you were probably just round the corner!
I love hearing how taking a chance with a phone call has led to so much more. I’ve seen some of your earlier films and you’ve really brought all your dramatic skills and technical expertise in CP to bear in the more recent work with Girl Next Door. Sometimes taking the plunge into the unknown is so rewarding in life!
