There’s something really quite exciting about stories or films that have an element of rebellion in them.  Perhaps it’s in my nature to identify with activities that challenge the orthodoxy. I kind of wish I could be or had been as rebellious myself in reality – I was always quite well-behaved when I was younger – honestly!

Some blog readers may remember the old black and white films from the late 1950s concerning a certain uproarious ‘educational’ establishment. The promotional photo opposite from “Blue Murder” at said establishment is a reminder of the riotous young ladies involved in all sorts of mayhem. They look quite sedate here but there were plenty of examples of truly appalling activities.  I remember one scene from the science lab where the equipment was being put to excellent alternative use to distil illicit hooch!  Ah the scams and wheezes.

Of course there is another 1950s educational setting becoming increasing infamous itself where, despite the tireless efforts of the headmistress and her senior colleagues, bad behaviour still persists.  Naturally, I am referring to none other than Bellington Academy which is under the strict disciplinary regime of Miss Elsa Svenson, Headmistress.  Some of the young ladies just seem to go from bad to worse.  For example, a recent record from the headmistress shows just how far some of them are prepared to go.  She has captured it as a warning and for instructional purposes in a recent and superb Girl Next Door film called Cigarettes and a Bottle of Gin.

Taking a good sized leaf out of the St Trinians book, naughty headgirl Charlotte Appleby appears to have moved forward enterprisingly into setting up a clandestine tobacco and alcohol business at Bellington.  Not only that, she has roped in two other young ladies, lovely Jane and Cathrine.  In the first scene we find all three girls facing the displeasure of Miss Svenson, and who challenges them about their activities.

She is most upset. The girls have been pilfering gin from home and selling cigarettes and alcohol to the other young ladies for secret dorm parties after lights-out.  It is, however, abundantly clear to our strict headmistress that the ringleader in all of this is, of course, Charlotte.  I absolutely love Charlotte’s visual denials though.  With a couple of ‘butter-wouldn’t-melt-in-her-mouth’ shakes of the head it’s as though she could be about to say: “No idea what you’re on about……err, Miss”.

Miss Svenson is having none of it.  In time-honoured Bellington fashion Charlotte is instructed to remove her blazer and skirt and prepare for a twelve stroke cold caning.  Oh hell, Charlotte, will you never learn?  A twelve stroke cold caning!  That is really stingy – I know – ouch 🙁

Miss Svenson’s accuracy is a joy to observe in this excellent visual record.  Charlotte, as a hardened rebel, takes her strokes extremely well though, before being ordered off for some domestic duties in the academy kitchens.  You have to admire her preparedness to suffer for her vices and scams.

But now the action moves on.  Cathrine and Jane may have been led on but they have been willing participants in the enterprise.  Consequently, there is no escaping some very sound punishment from strict Miss Svenson.  If the young ladies are going to become respectable citizens in this bygone decade then they will have to pay the hard way for their transgressions.

Jane and Cathrine anxiously wait as Miss Svenson continues her withering lecture.   Like me, no doubt you will be highly delighted when Miss Svenson announces that it is always good for a young lady to receive “a good old-fashioned over the knee bare-bottom spanking”.  Oh my word that phrase, it still sends a delicious shiver down my spine whenever I hear it or read it.  In no time at all Jane is called over and our lovely strict headmistress puts her over he knee.  A good four minute hand spanking  ensues during which the lecture continues and it is apparent that the girls are running a nice little earner with cigarettes and gin.

 

But it’s no good thinking a hand spanking will suffice.  Soon enough Jane is made to fetch the slipper. Back over the knee she goes and there are some lovely stinging flurries to start to bring this young lady to her senses.  Danielle Hunt plays Jane, and it’s good to see her back with Girl Next Door after quite a while.

The filming of Jane’s slippering is great.  I find it really enhances the film when a number of different angles are used.  Here there are some great shots of Jane’s facial reactions that help you to feel her anguish as the slappy implement smacks sharply on her tender bottom.  I’ve selected a little screen grab photo from the sample selection for the clip.  I really love this screen grab in particular because of the incredible blur on the slipper as Miss Svenson starts to bring it down for a firm spank.  It really captures the action.

Of course, Cathrine has been waiting and watching what is happening to her partner in crime.  It can’t have been easy.  And then suddenly its her turn over Miss Svenson’s waiting knee. Smack, smack, SMACK.  Cathrine’s bottom soon reddens.  As a relatively recent arrival at the Academy I think Cathrine finds her spankings particularly sore and stingy.  She certainly wriggles around in a most  enticing fashion to those of us of who love seeing such reactions from naughty young ladies.  (I’m guessing that’s pretty much everyone reading this!) I know that feeling when you almost try to stand up because of the sting intensity.  It takes a lot of self-control to manage yourself in such a position.  But a good hard spanking is something I find from personal experience can teach you develop that self-control.

Facial reactions from both Jane and Cathrine and their whimperings of “sorry” etc continue to be captured well throughout the slipperings and again when Miss Svenson gives them both a sound hairbrushing.

Again, I really want to commend the camera angles in these hand, slipper and hairbrush spankings.  Two angles in particular which I personally adore are:

• where the camera shoots from around Miss Svenson’s left shoulder, making you feel as though you could be doing the spanking yourself!
• where the camera shoots laterally from Miss Svenson’s right side and takes in (in this instance) Cathrine’s two bottom cheeks and her kicking legs as Miss Svenson lays on the spanks. You can see what I mean from the screen grab (right).  A little blurry from my screen grab but you see what I mean.

I really find this variety of camera angles very creative and something which really adds to the films.

Well, after the extended spankings for lovely Jane and Cathrine, I started to wonder what Charlotte has been up to.  I could hardly believe that Miss Svenson would not be calling her back for more chastisement given that it is very clear she is such a ringleader in most escapades around Bellington.

But just before that happens I just have to draw your attention to the last of the clips with Jane, Cathrine and Miss Svenson, where the girls have to kneel on the low leather spanking bench.  They are then treated to a methodical leather strapping side by side.  I have to say again that Jane and Cathrine’s reactions are superb.  Clearly the straps are very punishing and bring a very sore smarting to their cheeks.  Their plaintive cries and wails and promises to be good are some of the best I’ve heard.  Very well done you two!! (And of course Miss Svenson for persevering with her duty to uphold the academy rules, quite apart from thinking about the girls’ moral fibre!)

And so we come to the last little scene.  All three miscreants are back before their headmistress brandishing her wicked cane.  Oh dear, Miss Svenson really is going to see the group’s punishment through to the end.  Such blatant contravention of rules, especially involving stealing of tobacco and alcohol, just can’t be tolerated.  I mean there’s not only the girls’ morals to think of but their general good health and fitness too.  It is definitely time for the cane to swish though the air and connect where it matters.

The young ladies line up and lean forward over the bench to take their strokes.  I love how they take their final punishments in different ways.  Cathrine is new to the cane, having not been so badly behaved before as to deserve it.  But this time it is different, and it is clearly quite challenging.  The discerning will see how Miss Svenson is actually very understanding and helps Cathrine through. Please do watch out for a very endearing little moment partway through her second series of strokes.

Such a moment is very precious in spanking films for me personally. In my view, it shows the humanity involved in what is after all a strict disciplinary and temporarily painful activity. Check out the clip and see if you agree.

Charlotte is second in line – the hardened punishee – and she takes very strict strokes.  However experienced , it’s still extremely stingy on her bottom but she is well able to compose herself.  I can only admire it.  She counts out her strokes clearly and with fortitude.  But the big question is how long will the lesson last? ( My bet is on less than an hour 🙂 )

Jane’s turn arrives.  She too is stoic having been caned before on numerous occasions (at Bellington – and I do believe she has been at some other establishments too).  Jane is very quiet and a little more whimpery once the caning gets going. Her reactions are lovely to hear at the end, as she counts out her last strokes in a such a soft voice with a little hint of tears being held back.

I am indebted to all three young ladies and Miss Svenson as well as the camera operator for such a splendid film.  The young ladies took their superbly delivered punishments beautifully.  And I hope they don’t decide to be too goody-two-shoes in the future. After all they have a hellraising reputation to maintain now they have embarked on this homage to St Trinians 🙂
